Dear Members,

First off I would like to say thank you to Alyssa Wingenfield and recognize all her efforts in making last year such a great year for Central PA ASHRAE. Alyssa will be an impossible act to follow but she will still be contributing to Central PA ASHRAE serving as Governor and YEA chair this year. If you see Alyssa at our upcoming meeting please thank her and let her know how much her work is appreciated.

As some of you might know the annual Region 3 Chapter Regional Conference (CRC) was held in Bethlehem, PA August 15th – 17th . Thank you to everyone who was in attendance. Central PA received awards for high honor roll, star, and special citation. The following Central PA members also received awards at the CRC:

  • Mark Graybill, Research Promotion: Goal, High Five, Challenge Endowment Patch, and Pit Bull Award
  • Mike Conchilla, Membership Promotion: Green Ribbon Award
  • Mark Tome: Chapter Technology Transfer Certificate of Appreciation Outgoing Chair, Regionaire Award

The annual golf outing July 19th at Armitage was a huge success. I would like to personally and on behalf of the chapter thank the corporate sponsors and the 120+ golfers that participated. Every year this event continues to draw more golfers, but I would be negligent if I did not recognize specifically Glen DiEsposti and the golf committee for the outstanding work they do every year to make this event so successful.

The presentation schedule for this year assembled by Mike Conchilla is exciting and diverse with much consideration of the survey results we procured from you last year. Our first chapter meeting will include a presentation on Insulation Applications & Technologies for Buildings and HVAC Systems by Mr. James K. Voitel. It will be held at the Holiday Inn, Harrisburg East on Wednesday September 11th.

Our Chapter’s success depends on you and we depend on your feedback. At the chapter meeting please let me know why ASHRAE is valuable to you or what value we could offer on a forward looking basis. If you are unable to attend the meeting or would rather send me an email ( please do not hesitate.

I look forward to serving you in the coming year and hope to see all of your at our events.

David Bender, President, Central PA ASHRAE
