Dear Members,

Welcome back! Happy New Year! I hope everyone had an enjoyable and relaxing holiday!

According to a University of Scranton Journal of Clinical Psychology study, 45% of Americans usually make a new year’s resolution while only 8% are actually successful in achieving their resolution. On the bright side, the study also found that people who explicitly make resolutions are 10 times more likely to attain their goals than people who don’t explicitly make resolutions.

What are your 2013 goals? Get in shape? Get organized? Volunteer more?

For those looking to volunteer, I would ask you to consider volunteering your time and talents to our Central PA ASHRAE. We have many opportunities for volunteering that will fit your busy lifestyle. Looking for a one day commitment? Central PA ASHRAE is looking for volunteers to judge a middle school design competition called Future Cities on January 26th in Harrisburg. Contact Phil Groff for more information. Looking for more of a seasonal commitment? Consider volunteering for one of our committees including Student Activities, Golf Outing, Education, Young Engineers in ASHRAE, CTTC/Programs, and many more. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact me to discuss the many options available through our chapter!

Our chapter met a milestone this year – our joint meeting with USGBC of Central PA last month attracted over 50 attendees – the highest attended meeting this year! Thank you to our speakers, John (Jack) Gornik and Marcus Sheffer, for their thought provoking presentations on Controlling Today's Chilled Water Plant and Living Building Challenge.

Our next meeting will be a tour of JCI's York Facility. This will be followed by a presentation on Under Floor Air Distribution Systems. Hope to see you there!

Also, for those of you attending the ASHRAE Winter Meeting in Dallas, Texas, please consider attending the Region 3 dinner on Sunday, January 27, 2013. The dinner will be held at The Sambuca Uptown, 2120 McKinney Avenue, Dallas, Texas 75201. For more details, see announcement included in this pennant.
