President's Message

Greetings ASHRAE Members:

First, I would like to thank Philip Morey, Ph.D. for his intriguing presentation on microbiological building failures and materials for healthy buildings. The material he presented on mold and other indoor contaminants provided great information and brought on some interesting discussions. I want to also thank all those who were able to attend our annual family night to see the Hershey Bears. I must say that was the best hockey game I have ever attended. It’s hard to top eight Hershey goals and of course all the other extracurricular activity that took place.

Well spring is here and there are only a few more meetings before the summer break so please don’t miss out. Our next meeting, April 14th is our annual Student Night at ABC. Students from Penn College and Penn State will be presenting their senior projects so come out and support our student members. Also, coming up is our Professional Development seminar on Pennsylvania’s Act 129 on April 20th, ASHRAE’s “Right from the Start – Commissioning for High Performance Building.” webcast on April 21st, and our last meeting of the year at Carlisle SynTec for a tour of their PV Solar installation May 12th.

Hope you can make all the remaining events.

Sincerely,
D. Todd Postlethwait, PE, LEED AP
President

Presentation: Pennsylvania Act 129

As a means to postpone the building of new power plants, enhance the energy security of the Commonwealth, and make it more Green, the Pennsylvania legislative mandate had electric utility distribution companies scurrying last year to determine the best way to implement the mandates within their respective companies’ mission. Each company arrived at their solution by different means and with different outcomes. Come hear what each has to offer to the Industrial, Commercial, Government, and residential consumer. Each Electric Distribution Company will be presenting their program along with answering questions like: What incentives are being offered? When does the program begin, is there an end date? How much is this costing me?

Panel Discussion: “What’s on YOUR mind?”

Although the panel will be prepared to discuss various “hot topics”, the intention is to discuss your concerns and experiences. If you have a particular question or concern you would like the panel to address, please include your question in your registration.
